TimberNook South Central WI is nestled perfectly between Fish Lake and Crystal Lake on The Vines property in Sauk City, Wisconsin. Serving Sauk, Dane and Columbia counties, children will be immersed in the beauty of Wisconsin’s countryside as they come together to build their own imaginative worlds using natural and loose parts materials. Our providers, Kathryn and Katie, have been working with children for over 15 years through their work together in the schools and through their non-profit LIVEforand strive to reclaim childhood by helping kids engage all their senses to promote their physical development, mental health, and social growth.

🌿 The Vines: A Hidden Gem Between Sauk Prairie and Lodi, Wisconsin. Tucked away on a quiet country road between Sauk Prairie and Lodi, The Vines feels like stepping into another world. As you arrive, the pace of life gently slows, and a sense of peace settles in. Set in a serene wooded environment directly behind the vineyard, our TimberNook programs will offer innovative outdoor play experiences for children aged 5-12 yo, intentionally free from direct adult instruction, designed to challenge their senses and inspire creativity, imagination, and independent play.
All programs offer a truly immersive nature experience where imagination runs wild and the sky is the limit. Your child will collaborate across ages and abilities, just like we did when we were kids, to build their own imaginative worlds using natural and loose parts materials, supporting physical development, mental health, and social growth.
With a foundation based on free play in outdoor environments, children will build resilience, enhance executive functioning, and boost emotional regulation. In a world where children are often over-scheduled and over-directed, TimberNook South Central WI offers the freedom to explore, fail, try again, and feel the joy of creating something uniquely their own—together.

Intentionally set later in the day for kids attending surrounding summer school programs, your child will collaborate with others to build a village out of unique materials, while having the opportunity to use tools and practice new skills. This program is sure to inspire hours of building, creative problem solving, and most importantly, play!
Castaways
August 4-8th 2025
9am-2pm
$250
This program is sure to challenge your child’s survival instincts and imagination! Stranded on a “deserted island,” children are provided with only the bare essentials to create their own little world in the woods. Each day is filled with adventure and excitement as the week unfolds!
Children will find it hard to leave this enchanting space and parents will want to come back in the evenings to enjoy music under the stars. TimberNook isn’t just a program, The Vines isn't just a location— together they create a sanctuary where childhood is reclaimed through creativity, connection, and wonder.
