Little Wild Ones – Timbernook Athens County

Welcome back Summer with our popular forest program that engages children in outdoor play and learning!  Children will enjoy bringing stories to life, diving deep into their imaginations, engineering grand-scale play experiences, and so much more.  The woods have never been so fun!

We believe children learn best through play.  Therefore, each day includes a unique set of inspiring materials to encourage deep play.  Adults prepare the outdoor environment ahead of time, thoughtfully staging the forest area to inspire children to design and create using their own ideas for an Extended period of time.  This is a DROP-OFF camp.  We maintain a 6:1 child to adult ratio.  Adults are always present.  However, we operate with the understanding that it is best for us to “step-back and tune in.”  This means as the adults we are spread out in a way that ensures every child is seen, but we are not directing their play or interfering as they navigate play with others.  We are there to step in if anyone is in distress or doing something unsafe, but encourage children to problem solve and play in a way that is child-led rather than adult directed.

Cancellations due to weather will be rare and only in severe conditions that would affect safety.  Therefore, appropriate clothing should be worn (including closed toe shoes, no crocks please) and you can expect them to get dirty!  Cancellations due to a child being sick will not be refunded.  Withdrawing from Timbernook completely before the week has started will only be refunded a month or more in advance.
